On refrigerators, the most common damage spot is the left or right side panel — which sits against the cabinet or wall and is completely invisible once installed. The second most common spot is the top of the unit, also hidden once the fridge slides under the upper cabinetry.

On laundry, dings most often appear on the top corners (where straps press during shipping) or on the back panel (also invisible against the wall). Front-door damage exists too, but those units are typically discounted even more steeply because the flaw is visible.

On ranges and dishwashers, expect occasional handle scuffs, control-panel scratches, or small door dents. We let you inspect every flaw and decide if the discount is worth it for the specific spot.

Every appliance we sell carries at least a 90-day store warranty covering operational defects. Most scratch and dent units are also still inside the manufacturer's original warranty window — typically 1 year parts & labor on the appliance, with 10 years on sealed refrigeration systems and select motor components.

Manufacturers honor the warranty based on the serial number, not the retailer. As long as the serial-number sticker is intact (we don't sell appliances with removed or tampered serials), Samsung, LG, GE, Whirlpool and the rest will service the appliance the same as if you bought it from a chain store.

Extended warranty plans are available at checkout for shoppers who want multi-year coverage — they're priced about the same as big-box extended plans, applied to a much lower purchase price.

Step one: take a photo of the kitchen or laundry space the appliance is going into. Knowing exactly which side faces a wall and which side faces the room tells you immediately whether a side dent matters.

Step two: ask our staff to pull the serial number and look up the manufacture date and warranty status. Newer units mean more remaining warranty.

Step three: actually open and operate the unit in the showroom. Fridges should hum cleanly, washers should fill and spin, ovens should heat. If you can plug it in, we will.

Step four: do the math. Compare the outlet price to the same model new at Lowe's, Home Depot or Best Buy. If the discount is 30 %+ for damage you can live with, it's almost always the right buy.

Brand-new perfect units make sense when the appliance will be a visible centerpiece (panel-ready built-in fridge, professional range in an open kitchen) or when you simply prefer flawless finishes. We carry plenty of brand-new no-blemish appliances too.

Scratch and dent makes sense for almost every other situation: standard kitchens, garage fridges, basement bars, rental properties, laundry rooms. You get the same brand, same features, same warranty, at a significantly lower price.

Used appliances (refurbished or previously-installed) are a separate category — they make sense for rental property landlords or short-term needs, but the warranty is shorter and the price gap vs scratch and dent isn't always worth it.
